Program Dates: The spring and fall cohorts run 15 weeks, while the summer cohort runs 10 weeks (June-September).

Horizon offers trimester-long research programs for high school students across subject areas such as data science, machine learning, political theory, and more! Horizon is one of the few research programs for high school students that offers you the choice to engage in either quantitative or qualitative research. Once you select a particular subject track, Horizon pairs you with a professor/PhD scholar who acts as a mentor throughout your research journey. As a participant, you will be expected to develop a 20-page research paper that you can send to prestigious journals for publication as a high school student. 2. DocPrep – Baylor College of Medicine

The Houston Premedical Academy is a highly selective pathway that provides up to six DeBakey HS seniors each year with conditional acceptance into Baylor College of Medicine. Applicants must first gain admission to the University of Houston and the Honors College, then apply through HPA with transcripts, three recommendation letters (two from DeBakey faculty), and complete an interview at Baylor. Once admitted, students pursue their undergraduate degree at UH with tailored advising, enrichment in health sciences, and mentorship. If they maintain program requirements, they are guaranteed a seat at Baylor College of Medicine for medical school, making this one of the most direct and structured pre-medical pipelines in Houston.
14. Johns Hopkins Internship in Brain Sciences (JHIBS) – Virtual Experience
