The Met High School Internship Program gives students hands-on experience working in a museum setting alongside art and creative professionals. You’ll be placed in a department that matches your interests and spend 10 to 20 hours a week assisting, observing, and learning from staff in areas such as marketing, communication, research, engineering, photography, education, curatorial work, conservation, and design. The program also includes workshops, career labs, and opportunities to connect with professionals from the museum and creative fields. If you’re interested in marketing, you can apply to the Communications and Marketing department. There, you may help prepare for exhibition press previews, press conferences, museum-wide announcements, and other media events. Emma Bowen Foundation Internship is a summer program that introduces students to careers in media and tech. New and returning fellows are placed in full-time roles for at least eight weeks, with schedules set by the partner company. You may work with organizations such as Discovery, TVB Local Media Marketing Solutions, Comcast, Spectrum, Forbes, or Hearst. You’ll take part in the EBF Summer Conference, which includes networking and career-focused sessions, along with workshops, info sessions, and panels led by industry professionals. In a marketing role, you’ll get hands-on experience within a partner organization by supporting a marketing team with tasks like content creation, campaign planning, data analysis, and social media management, depending on the role and company. Before starting, you’ll complete up to 30 hours of pre-employment training with a Ladders Community Partner. The program includes six weekly career development workshops on communication, interviewing, resume writing, and financial literacy, as well as a post-internship survey. The NARA Voluntary Internship Program gives students a chance to work directly with the National Archives and Records Administration and gain experience with collections that document key moments in American history. These records are used for historical research, family history projects, and verifying military service. You can explore many areas, including marketing, social media, records management, archival processing, communications, digitization, legal and legislative research, and editorial work. You’ll work between 10 and 40 hours a week and must complete at least 100 total hours. At least half of your time will be on site, and you’ll set your schedule with your supervisor.
