You will experience college life from the perspective of a medical student and learn about key aspects of the medical school curriculum through interactions with faculty and participation in faculty-led presentations on medical topics.

The Gator Pharmacy Exploration Camp is a one-week residential program aimed at introducing students to the pharmacy profession. You will visit active research laboratories and facilities, attend discussions on current research at UF, and engage in hands-on activities and experiments with UF research faculty and graduate students.

The University of Florida Student Science Training Program (UF SSTP) is a seven-week residential research experience designed for students interested in science, medicine, math, computer science, or engineering careers.
Throughout the program, you will work on your faculty mentor's ongoing research for 30 hours each week, attend daily lectures on current research topics, and participate in a UF honors seminar class. You will also take part in small group discussions led by residential and academic counselors, meet weekly with your research faculty mentor, and attend individual meetings to help you understand scientific articles and receive feedback on academic assignments.
The program aims to develop your communication and leadership skills through group discussions, oral presentations, workshops, and hands-on experiences. Peer support and feedback will assist you in enhancing your critical thinking, interpersonal, and technical writing skills. The Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience (MPFI) Summer Research Internship offers high school students the opportunity to work in a laboratory with experienced researchers and neuroscientists. If chosen for the program, you will receive mentorship, gain insights into brain structure and development, and learn about advanced imaging techniques and technologies. You will work on research projects with MPFI scientists and write a scientific abstract based on your research.
The internship will primarily involve working in wet labs, where you will learn techniques such as genetic engineering, histological staining, microbiology preparations, and microscopy. Achieve in Medicine (AIM) High is a five-day medical immersion camp hosted by Nova Southeastern University’s Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine. It is aimed at high school students interested in careers in the health professions. During the camp, you will engage in interactive educational sessions designed to improve your foundational scientific and medical knowledge. Topics covered include suturing, dissection, pharmacy, sports medicine, and cancer detection, among others. You will also attend social events where you can interact with NSU medical students.
The camp explores various medical specialties such as preventative medicine, pediatrics, neuroscience, pharmacy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and public health. You will learn about and apply new medical education and practice technologies, including 3-D modeling, language processing, and augmented reality. You will practice medical procedures like suturing and participate in sessions on how technology can benefit community health. University of Miami’s Summer Scholars program is a three-week, credit program for high school students that allows them to engage in college-level courses taught by UM faculty in their field of interest.
During the program, you will select one academic specialty from UM's schools and colleges which includes applications of mechanical, aerospace, civil, and architectural engineering; computing and mobile app development; explorations in architecture and design; industrial and systems engineering; and innovations in biomedical, computer and electrical engineering. Each academic specialty consists of two courses for a total of 6 credit hours. Classes are conducted from Monday to Friday. The morning session is from 8:10–11:40 am and the afternoon session is from 1:10–4:40 pm. Florida State University’s Young Scholars Program (YSP) is a 6-week residential summer program for Florida high school students interested in potential STEM careers. This program is managed by the Office of STEM Teaching Activities within the College of Arts and Sciences at FSU. During the program, you will enroll in three courses in the fields of mathematics, science, and computer programming. The courses are designed specifically for this program and do not offer dual enrollment, high school, or college credit. The courses are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis depending on the instructors’ preferences, so you may be placed in different courses from the ones that you requested.
You will also get to work on an independent research project under the supervision of your faculty sponsor, postdoctoral associates, laboratory staff, and graduate students. During the last week of the program, there will be a poster session where you’ll present your research in front of university faculty and officials. You will get to participate in social activities organized by the YSP staff including evening movies, beach and lake parties, dances, and day trips to the local recreational areas. The program also includes weekend trips that are mandatory to attend. The University of Florida’s Summer Media Institute (SMI) offers a six-day workshop for high school students interested in journalism and communications. During the program, you will get to participate in a mix of electives and specializations and learn from UF instructors and industry leaders. This program offers several specializations which include anchoring and hosting, broadcast reporting, feature and news writing, filmmaking, photojournalism, social media, sports reporting, and communication strategies.
The program also offers electives such as sports analytics, sound design, AI, the role of body language in communication, graphic designing, public relations, reality TV, screenwriting, and more which you can select by filling out a survey. You will also receive guidance to prepare for careers in the media industry. While you’ll spend your days attending classes, activities such as a scavenger hunt and karaoke/dance party are planned for the evenings. University of Central Florida’s Computer Science Summer Institute is a three-week program for students interested in computer science and technology. During the program, you will learn basic and advanced computer science concepts through interactive and individualized instruction with UCF instructors and researchers.
The program offers three courses divided into three levels—Levels 1 & 2 include introductory courses on programming and game design whereas Level 3 includes a course on competitive programming. The course placement is decided by the instructor during the application review process during which beginners will either be placed in the Level 1 or 2 course depending on their mathematics background and students who have completed the Advanced Placement Computer Science A course will be placed in the Level 3 course. The Pre-College Marine Science Program offers an opportunity for high school students to explore marine science as a potential major at Eckerd College. The program’s curriculum is modeled after Eckerd’s undergraduate curriculum where you’ll participate in hands-on work with the faculty on the Gulf of Mexico. To participate in this program, you must be able to pass the swim test which includes three full laps for a total of 150 yards, without touching the bottom of the pool, using any style, and with no time limit.
During the program, you will engage in lab activities designed to explore marine biology, marine geology, marine chemistry, and more. Sample activities include catching and releasing nearshore marine fish and invertebrates, such as shrimp, crabs, and zooplankton; photographing wild dolphins to study their ecology and behavior in Florida’s coastal waters; deploying hydrophones to listen to underwater sounds like those made by dolphins, fish, and snapping shrimp; and observing foraging shorebirds while taking sediment cores to discover their prey on local beaches. You will interact and work with residential counselors in the late afternoons, evenings, and overnight.

The Lumiere Research Scholar Program is a research initiative designed for high school students. It provides personalized research opportunities in a wide range of subjects, pairing students with Ph.D. mentors for one-on-one work on independent research projects.
